Endgame Guide

Welcome to the endgame. After completing Hell Clock’s main story campaign, your journey truly begins. This guide serves as the central hub for understanding all of the deep, challenging, and rewarding content that awaits you in the Ascension system.

The core of Hell Clock’s endgame is the Ascension system, a “rogue-like” experience that resets your progress and challenges you to conquer the game under new, self-imposed difficulties. In each Ascension, you have a limited number of runs to defeat all three main bosses. You’ll customize this challenge with Penances, modifiers that increase the “Hell Level” and make enemies and bosses significantly more dangerous.

While Hell Clock does not have a traditional class system, Constellations serve this role in the endgame. This deep progression mechanic, inspired by Grim Dawn, consists of 52 mini-skill-trees. At the start of an Ascension, you spend points to unlock Constellations along three main Devotion Paths:

  • Fury (Red): The Warrior archetype.
  • Discipline (Green): The Rogue archetype.
  • Faith (Blue): The Mage archetype.

Your choices here define your starting build and even influence the types of endgame-only Unique Relics you will find.

The The Infernal Bell is the endgame version of the campaign’s skill tree. It is a vast, non-linear tree with six different starting points, allowing for immense freedom. Its strategic purpose is twofold: to provide mandatory progression (like more relic space and skill levels) and to allow you to compensate for any weaknesses in your build that result from random drops or your Constellation choices.
